On this #GoodNewsFriday, I want to give a plug for our friends at the Jones Haskell Farmers Market. When we talk about creating a #BetterStamford, it includes the hard necessities like more jobs and better infrastructure, but it also involves quality of life. If you want to attract people to your community, you’ve got to make it a worthwhile place to live!
Tommy Bearden has done incredible work spearheading the farmers market and there are a host of folks from around the area who also bring their goods to sell—fresh vegetables, fruit, baked goods, canned items, fresh beef, and more. Not only does the farmers market offer locally grown, farm-to-table food, but this year they’re working to expand the local gardening movement by partnering with retailers in Stamford, Haskell, and Anson to sell garden plants to other aspiring gardeners. Follow them on Facebook for more information. As the garden season opens, let’s support our local farmers market and help it grow. A booming farmers market is a sign of a community that is a worthwhile place to live and that is good news indeed!
