Good News Friday: 12 Months
Today’s #GoodNewsFriday is something that brings me great optimism for our community’s return to “normal” (whatever that is). If you’ve seen my social media posts this week, you know that our local healthcare facilities got a major boost on their Covid vaccination efforts, with 100 doses of the Johnson & Johnson Covid vaccine to the clinic in Stamford and 750 doses of the Pfizer vaccine to the clinic in Haskell. These vaccines were open to all and I got vaccinated along with many others of all ages in our community.
First, I promised to share the side effects of my Johnson & Johnson vaccine so our community has real life firsthand evidence. My side effects are...negligible. I’ve had some mild lingering soreness on my shoulder (on a 1-10 pain scale, it’s been a 1.5 at most). Your mileage may vary, but that’s it for me.
It was a year ago this week that the world started to change in unprecedented ways. Many folks have suffered loss that cannot be replaced. I don’t want to rehash that, but I do want to say this. Our local healthcare workers have done yeoman’s work in these 12 months. They’ve tested us for a novel virus. They’ve treated patients who have fallen ill with it. They’ve learned to treat us for other ailments while working around the spread of this virus. And now, they’re vaccinating to help bring us a greater sense of security to our community health. Their hard work is the only good news that is worthy of this space this week!
“Good News Friday” is a weekly feature spotlighting positive news and activities in the Stamford community as a part of our quest to build a #BetterStamford.
