Good News Friday 1/22/21
#GoodNewsFriday is circling back to one of our original topics and that is the ongoing cleanup and beautification of #StamfordTexas.
This property in the 200 block of Hobart Street burned a few years ago. It sits in a residential area, only a few blocks east of our elementary school. The City of Stamford encountered several obstacles in obtaining a voluntary agreement to demolish the property, so code enforcement officer Manuel Ramos spent many months pursuing a condemnation of the structure as a health and safety hazard. In the fall of 2020, Officer Ramos presented the case to the City Council, which approved the condemnation and ordered the structure demolished. This week, it was demolished (along with several other dangerous structures on Davenport Street) and next week the debris will be hauled away and the lot cleared.
Many properties still require cleanup, but thanks to Officer Ramos, one more is improved!
“Good News Friday” is a weekly feature spotlighting positive news and activities in the Stamford community as a part of our quest to build a #BetterStamford.
