A few months ago, I brought you a #GoodNewsFriday about the housing market in Stamford. We talked about increasing demand in the housing market due to affordable home prices. In the ensuing months, we have seen this trend only continue and grow. Local housing demand is increasing and, as a result, so are home prices. Homes are flying off the market in a way that I have not seen in my lifetime!
For the first time in at least a decade, we also have a new home under construction within the city limits! New construction inside the city limits (both residential and commercial) is critical to our future growth and prosperity. Increasing our tax base is the only way that we as a city can offer more and better city services while reducing the tax burden placed on the current taxpayers.
Stay tuned, because we have a few ideas to encourage new residential construction inside the city. I have also talked with several of you about the opportunity to renovate vacant houses in town. Do you have some ideas? Do you know of specific houses that might be a good HGTV-worthy project? Let me know and I would love to see if we can help make that happen.
Let’s keep the progress going and let folks know that we want them to #MoveToStamfordTexas!
