Good News Friday: A Railroad to Come
Today, I’m bringing a #GoodNewsFriday that’s something of a tease. I won’t make a habit of that, but this is worthwhile.
I’ve been vocal about the need to improve internet access in #StamfordTexas. We need broadband internet that is faster, more reliable, accessible to more people, and affordable for our citizens and businesses. The internet today is akin to the railroad of yesteryear. It is a vital link to the rest of the world and it is necessary for a community’s economic prosperity. A 21st-century community without sufficient internet access faces the same difficulties as a community that was bypassed by the railroad at the dawn of the 20th century.
On March 23, leaders from across Jones County will unveil the first step towards better internet across our communities. Stay tuned to my social media accounts on that day and I will share more details then.
Y’all, I’m pumped. This is a step we have been working on for a while. COVID threw awry some of the planning and partnerships that had to come together, but big things are coming.
“Good News Friday” is a weekly feature spotlighting positive news and activities in the Stamford community as a part of our quest to build a #BetterStamford.
