Good News Friday: Community Disposal
Throughout my tenure as mayor, I’ve been adamant about the importance of the City of Stamford providing better services in a more accessible manner. We’re improving in many areas. There is still much work left to be done in other areas, but today we can announce another improvement on #GoodNewsFriday.
We have now opened our consolidated convenience station, which has doubled the size of the original convenience station. Beginning tomorrow (Saturday, August 28), you can enter via the new gates at the 100 block of West Oliver to drop off tires, wood, metal, and bulky waste items, AND, for the first time, trees and limbs. Rather than delivering trees and limbs to the water treatment plant, as has been done for many years, you can now deliver all your waste to a single, central location in the heart of Stamford.
To make it more accessible, we have heard from many of you who have requested additional hours of service. The expanded convenience station will now open from 1 to 5 PM on Wednesdays and from 8 AM to 5 PM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. It is my goal to open the convenience station as much as possible to meet our citizens’ needs, so we will tailor these hours moving forward to meet additional demand.
For any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am plotting some recycling options for the future. We hope that this will continue to provide an accessible, environmentally conscious, and affordable method of disposal of all manners of waste for our citizens!
“Good News Friday” is a weekly feature spotlighting positive news and activities in the #StamfordTexas community as a part of our quest to build a #BetterStamford.
