Good News Friday: Convenience
Sometimes, #GoodNewsFriday is about big goals that we’re pursuing to transform the face of our community. Other times, it’s about additions and improvements to the daily experience of living in Stamford. Today, I want to share one of the latter.
For many years, our citizens have taken unwanted tree limbs and branches to the water treatment plant, but that drop-off point has been displaced by our new water tower. We continue to operate a temporary site on that location, but we will soon move that drop-off point to this new yard in the 100 block of West Oliver. Better yet, this shiny new facility replaced a set of overgrown, abandoned houses that were a gloomy, dreary stain on the neighborhood. This is adjacent to and north of our existing convenience station, where citizens can dispose of waste such as tires, wood, metal, and bulky items. That convenience station will quickly receive its own new fence and it will combined with our drop-off for limbs and branches to create a single, accessible, free location to dispose of all manner of waste and debris.
Thinking out loud here, but how many folks would be interested in adding a recycling option for items like steel cans, plastic, and the like? Several citizens have inquired about this possibility and I would like to know more about our local interest in such an option so we can pursue the logistics to make it happen.
“Good News Friday” is a weekly feature spotlighting positive news and activities in the #StamfordTexas community as a part of our quest to build a #BetterStamford.
