Good News Friday: Different Solutions
We talk a lot about code enforcement on #GoodNewsFriday. Most of the time, that concerns demolition of abandoned properties, but today, let’s talk about a different solution. This is 802 Wells. It’s a vacant house in a nice neighborhood, about a block from Harmon Park, on one of our historic brick streets. It has been an eyesore recently—weeds have been overgrown, there is debris piled up, and most of the windows are broken out. But not for long!
Thanks to the hard work of code enforcement officer Manuel Ramos, this property came before the City Council for consideration on Monday night. Officer Ramos saw that this brick home, while problematic in many ways, is structurally sound and still has potential. He recommended that the City Council issue its first order of repair, rather than an order of demolition. So we did. The property owners are cooperative and within the weeks to come, they will bring this property back up to code and help improve the neighborhood! It has now recently been mowed.
It takes a team and it is not an overnight process, but day by day, street by street, and block by block, we are continuing to build a Better Stamford.
“Good News Friday” is a weekly feature spotlighting positive news and activities in the #StamfordTexas community as a part of our quest to build a #BetterStamford.
