Good News Friday: Keep It Beautiful
We’ve talked a lot about community beautification on #GoodNewsFriday. Today, I want to spotlight the volunteers at Keep Stamford Beautiful for the hard work they’ve done and the good work they’re planning.
KSB has recently hosted several “pop up cleanup” events in different areas around town. These events have devoted a few hours towards cleaning up specific messy locations illegal dump sites. They’re planning a work day at our West Cemetery in late August. KSB has also announced an “Adopt-a-Block” program for citizens to take the lead in cleaning up litter around town.
Due to the sheer size of Stamford’s undeveloped areas and the quantity of our vacant lots, beautification can be a challenge. It’s an ongoing process that requires constant help from many volunteers. I’m glad that Keep Stamford Beautiful is involving new people in beautification and taking on new and different challenges each month. Follow their Facebook page for updates, and if you’d like to adopt a block or volunteer in some other way, let them know!
