Good News Friday: One Year
The goal of #GoodNewsFriday is to end every week with a bit of positivity. There’s a lot of negativity on social media, in the news, and in the world, so for the last year, I’ve committed myself to finding something good in Stamford every week.
To get real with you: building a Better Stamford feels like a complex jigsaw puzzle, full of smaller jigsaw puzzles. To create the community we all desire, we’ve got to bring new amenities to town. We’ve got to serve our citizens better. We’ve got to improve our infrastructure and take better care of it. We’ve got to take care of our city employees and give them better tools and resources with which to operate our infrastructure and serve our citizens.
Today, I want to share one of those tools. I’ve been vocal with my frustration about the City’s reluctance to purchase good equipment. We’re working to improve that through our ongoing budget discussions, but here’s a start. This week, we received a new John Deere tractor and shredder that will improve the speed and quality of the mowing by our streets and parks department. In the weeks to come, I hope to share with you some more necessary investments into our people and and our equipment.
Thank you for riding along in the last year. There is much work left to be done, but much more good news to share!
“Good News Friday” is a weekly feature spotlighting positive news and activities in the #StamfordTexas community as a part of our quest to build a #BetterStamford.
