Good News Friday: Pool Time
This week’s #GoodNewsFriday is a particularly fun announcement. The City of Stamford has selected Luke Thane as our pool manager for the 2021 pool season! You heard that right, Luke will graduate from Stamford High School on Friday, May 28 and then he will open the pool for our annual Splash Day on Saturday, May 29!
Thanks to the continuing generosity of local community members, general admission to the pool will remain free all summer long. The pool will be open from 1 pm to 7 pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and from 1 pm to 6 pm on Friday and Saturday.
Luke is partnering with the Stamford Chamber of Commerce and local businesses to host special events for both children and adults throughout the summer. Some of those events may have an admission fee, but they will be well worth your time and money. Profits from those events will go towards further improvements at the pool. Luke is also setting up a dedicated Facebook page to promote the pool and he will have a special email address for pool questions and to reserve the pool for private parties.
As you know, I am especially passionate about making our pool an accessible, affordable place for every member of our community. Luke has won awards from the Stamford Chamber of Commerce and the Texas Midwest Community Network for his past volunteerism and hard work improving our pool, so I cannot wait to see what transpires with his leadership this summer!
