Good News Friday: Reunion
Tonight, #GoodNewsFriday is reporting live from the 91st annual Texas Cowboy Reunion. Since 1930, this event has been a mainstay of the July 4th weekend in #StamfordTexas. For too many reasons to list here (I’ll save that for another essay), it’s also one of the cornerstone events in the history of American rodeo and the preservation of the heritage of the American West.
2020 was a challenge for the TCR and the Stamford community to navigate. Many of us dealt with constant questions about the decision to hold the event (albeit in a heavily modified manner). We dealt with government regulations that changed on a daily basis (including right in the middle of the TCR). Personally, I didn’t enjoy much of last year’s event as a result. I finally breathed easier in late July.
This year, we’re dealing with unpredictable rain but tonight, it’s beautiful. The grandstands are full. The contestant list and sponsorships are overflowing. The facilities and amenities continue to improve each year. 20,000 people and hundreds of thousands of dollars are flowing through our community. Hundreds of volunteers are working around the clock to make it possible. And for all of that, I’m thankful.
“Good News Friday” is a weekly feature spotlighting positive news and activities in the #StamfordTexas community as a part of our quest to build a #BetterStamford.
