#GoodNewsFriday: A Top Feeling
This afternoon, I went to run an errand across the square. Absentmindedly, I forgot what I needed before I arrived at my destination (I did remember later, at least). It has been a week. I know several people who have had a rough time. There’s a lot of sadness in the world.
But I looked across the square and I saw this sign. Maybe the Good Lord knew I needed the positivity. “Top Gun” was one of my favorite movies as a kid. It still is. I was too young to ever see it in a theater, but I definitely owned the Nintendo game. With my VHS tape, I watched on repeat the opening sequence on the aircraft carrier literally hundreds of times, set to the tune of Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone,” a top five all-time movie anthem in my book.
After 36 years and many years of hype and anticipation, there is a sequel. “Top Gun: Maverick” has crazy good reviews from seemingly everyone. It is the biggest movie in the world. And we can see it on the big screen, right here in downtown Stamford. I’m going to see it on Sunday, as a matter fact. I’m going to feel like a kid. And that is pretty darn cool.
“Good News Friday” is a weekly feature spotlighting positive news and activities in the #StamfordTexas community as a part of our quest to build a #BetterStamford.
