It’s another week of progress and improving the basic infrastructure at the City of Stamford. This morning, our public works crew fixed a water leak downtown in bitterly cold weather (yes, that is Brandan Foster working up to his waist in icy water). This afternoon, our crews made some progress on Lake Drive, past the youth ballfields and around behind College Lake.
Lately, water and mud have lingered in the road behind College Lake. The mud has not seemed to dry and joyriders going “mudding” have made it worse. Given the limited recent rainfall, City employees believe the culprit has been a leak in an adjacent water line. We believe that has been fixed, and today, the City crews were out spreading white rock and resurfacing the road using our new motor grader.
There are some cool ideas in the works around College Lake, so stay tuned. And if you’re available, Keep Stamford Beautiful will hold a cleanup day there on March 26 to deal with persistent illegal dumping.
One day at a time, everywhere you look, City employees and community volunteers are making Stamford just a little bit better.
“Good News Friday” is a weekly feature spotlighting positive news and activities in the #StamfordTexas community as a part of our quest to build a #BetterStamford.
I'm hoping one day I will be able to fix up the black cemetery. That's where I want to be buried. My grandmother is buried there and her mother and father. This cemetery is historically there's slaves buried in that cemetery.
