It’s time for another update on Stamford’s ongoing water project! Construction is well underway on our new water treatment plant. This state-of-the-art facility will utilize the most cutting-edge water filtration technology on the market today. It is located alongside the City’s current water treatment plant, at the corner of McKinley and Bunkley Streets. Construction will be completed later this year.
The water treatment plant is the last facility rebuild in our $20 million water project. This project has been over a half-decade in the making, thanks to the hard work of many city leaders, present and past. We have constructed new pump stations at Lake Stamford, a new water line from the lake to town, and a new water tower. When the water treatment plant is completed, our citizens will have a fully new water production and treatment system for the first time since the 1950s. This plant will also be equipped to run on a generator in case of a large-scale power failure, to avoid service interruption to our citizens.
Once the plant is complete, we will expend our remaining funds on replacing water lines in town. We expect to have just shy of $1 million available. That won’t replace every water main, but it will go a long way towards resolving some of our citizens’ biggest headaches. And as for the rest of our water mains, I will not rest until they are all replaced too!

Love to see progress going on in Stamford.
