#GoodNewsFriday: Lake View Anew
We’re staying at College Lake for more good news! Spring is nigh and in the spirit of the season, we’ve got a ton of exciting news coming up about our parks and youth sports. New facilities(!) are in the works and new playground equipment for Washington Park has arrived, so stay tuned in the coming weeks for updates and opportunities to volunteer and contribute.
Today, we want to thank the leaders of the Stamford Baseball Association, spearheaded by Chris Bell, for clearing the mesquite trees behind the outfield wall of the youth baseball field. When I was young, there was a beautiful view of College Lake from the baseball field but the creep of mesquite trees is slow and steady. You don’t realize how badly they obstruct the view until you remove them, and voila! A beautiful view has been restored.
The City of Stamford and the baseball association will be leveling this newly cleared area and restoring the grass. This will create a great location to park and watch youth baseball games and it will further add to College Lake’s amenities as a budding recreation area that is accessible for the whole community.
“Good News Friday” is a weekly feature spotlighting positive news and activities in the #StamfordTexas community as a part of our quest to build a #BetterStamford.
