Peep the new playset at Washington Park! Back in June, we installed two smaller climbing pieces at the park and promised that more was on the way. Thanks to Kelly Williamson and his crew at Walcott Enterprises, this large piece has now been installed. City of Stamford employees are planning the installation of some other small pieces to round out this phase of playground development at the park.
This project has been decades in the making, but I am excited to see it come together. For many years, Harmon Park has been a centerpiece park that, due to its location on Highway 6, attracts even out-of-town visitors and travelers passing through Stamford. But it is vital that the children of Stamford have access to greenspace and playground equipment within walking distance wherever they live in our community. One step at a time, we are bringing that goal to reality with more on the way.
I have had inquiries about citizen contributions towards Washington Park and some other parks projects that are underway. Park equipment is extremely expensive, so we are grateful for this generosity. Stay tuned there—we are developing a nonprofit organization that will soon be able to receive and allocate those funds as each contributor directs! Thank you to each person who has supported or encouraged these improvements in Stamford. One day at a time, our community becomes a better place to live for everyone in it!
