#GoodNewsFriday: Potholes
Stamford’s streets are a source of aggravation to anyone who drives them for more than 30 seconds. I hear frustration from our citizens on a regular basis and my frustration is even larger than yours. I’m working on a larger piece about our long term street ideas, but today I want to discuss what we’re doing in the meantime.
A major (and fair) complaint has been that our pothole patches did not hold once they were impacted by cold or wet weather. Earlier this year, we switched to a different bonding agent to remedy that deficiency. Short term results have been positive. Over the last few months, we have repaired hundreds of potholes. As we move into the fall and winter, some of our mowing crew will join pothole expert Pete Perez in his work, to speed up the repairs. You will continue to see more and more pothole patches appear in every single part of town. If you see a pothole, wherever you might drive in town, there’s a 99% chance I have already seen it and I have put it on our list.
Several weeks ago, I had a conversation with Pete. He told me that we still had a lot to do, but “you tell the citizens I’m catching up!” Thanks for your hard work, Pete. You are making a difference, one patched pothole at a time!
