#GoodNewsFriday: Tiny Living
Would you like to downsize your home? Are you interested in a minimal style of living? Would you like to operate unique short-term rental properties? Stamford will soon be a great location to do all the above!
Our City Council is looking to promote development of “tiny houses” in Stamford. Tiny house is a catch-all term for smaller residences, usually 400 square feet or less (excluding lofts). Tiny houses are in high demand right now for simpler, inexpensive, or eco-friendly living, so where better to do that than rural America? A zoning variance would currently be required for a tiny house in Stamford, so we want to change that.
We would like to zone an undeveloped area of town (like the one pictured here) as tiny-house friendly. This may include a replat into smaller lots or even promotion of a “tiny house neighborhood.” We are excited about Stamford’s opportunity to meet the demand for unique, attractive new residences and short-term rentals. Are you interested in a tiny house for yourself or as a business opportunity? Let us know! Do you have input on the best ways to bring this idea to life? We are planning a public hearing on the matter, but we will also accept comments via my email address at stamfordstreets at gmail.com. This is one of many reasons why people want to #MoveToStamfordTexas and we want to make those opportunities as easy as possible!
