Welcome to West of 98!

A person's place and their connection to it informs the person’s relationship to—and view of—the world.

My view is deeply shaped by the segment of the Great Plains, known as the Rolling Plains, out here west of the 98th Meridian, where the rainfall becomes more sporadic, and life, culture, agriculture, and institutions are forced to adapt to the land that they depend on. I am passionate about rural America and the relationship between people and place. The world seemingly tells us that these notions are antiquated, but I believe the exact opposite.

In fact, I believe that restoring the connection between people and their place is vital to our world's future security and prosperity. These discussions do not fit within any arbitrary boundary set by politicians or social media discourse. Do you want a different kind of conversation about life and making the world a little bit better?

Then you've come to the right place. Come join in, West of 98.
