This is fantastic. I've also been the only under-40 around the table in the Country Kitchen with the Butcher, Insurance Man, Banker, and Engineer (among others of course). Rich memories.

Exquisite James. I was just thinking this morning how much I want to go to breakfast at the local breakfast joint (ours in Knoxville is called Pete's by the way). The kind of place where the coffee has to taste like it's been roasted at the center of the sun (for both heat and strength), the pancakes always come with enough syrup, and there's an omelet on the menu that you might as well just get back in bed after you eat it.

I read this "back when," but came across it again this morning. Perfect reminder of how much we have lost touch with each other over the last few decades. Or maybe I should say how much our contact with each other has changed. Face-to-face, heart-to heart--not so easy to come by in this age of instant "technological" communication.
